Badge Challenges

These badges, designed around historic technology, are meant to help you guide you through your requirements in your 2 years in the Technology Fellows Program (while having some fun!). Please note how you will have to provide evidence by posting to the Tech Fellows blog with the tag “evidence”. Official badging timeline begins at the start of fall semester.

Tech Fellows earn their bragging rights by engaging in a 2-year fellowship with the 2nd year focusing on mentoring the next cohort. These exceptional faculty and staff members are chosen annually from many applicants using a rigorous application process.

Prodigy

Tech Fellows who earn at least 6 of the 8 badges from the year-one challenges earn this prestigious accolade. Tech Fellows must reach this goal in order to receive other incentives offered by the program.

Year-one Challenges

TF-Badge-(Conspirator)

Conspirator

Tech Fellows who earn this badge initiate and meet with their mentor at least 3x per semester in year one, and post a reflection or update on progress in the Tech Fellows blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag “conspirator”.

Author

Author

Tech Fellows who earn this badge actively share resources and experiences on the Tech Fellows Blog or in the UAA Academic Commons. They posts at least 2x/month and keep their Tech Fellow Bio page updated.

TF-Badge-(Team-Player)

Team Player

Tech Fellows who earn this badge regularly attend and participate in monthly TF meetings physically or virtually. If they have to miss a meeting, they post a reflection, update or teaching tip in the Tech Fellows Blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag "updates".

Explorer

Explorer

Tech Fellows who earn this badge engage in course planning and revision through peer review using various planning methods like the “Course Design Checklist”, “UBD Tree” or “Learning Assessment Cycle”. They meet with their Mentors and/or Instructional Designer and post a reflection or example in the Tech Fellows blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag “explorer”.

Voyager

Voyager

Tech Fellows who earn this badge commit to broadening their professional learning by completing the National Sloan-C Online Teaching Certificate Program or Mastery Series, and post regular reflections and updates on progress in the Tech Fellows blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag “voyager”.

Tech Fellows who earn this badge incorporate instructor presence into their course with audio, video or screencasts, and share their experience in a reflection or teaching tip in the Tech Fellows blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag "director".

TF-Badge-(Broadcaster)

Criteria: Tech Fellows who earn this badge expand their professional learning network by increasing sharing in professional learning communities on the web via social media sharing sites or blogs, and share their experience in a reflection or teaching tip in the Tech Fellows blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag “broadcaster".

Tech Fellows earn their bragging rights as a Mentor by moving into their 2nd year focused on leading the new cohort of Tech Fellows. They model information fluency by supporting their colleagues and contributing their knowledge to the UAA learning community.

Tech Fellow Mentors who earn at least 5 of the 7 badges from the year-two challenges earn this prestigious accolade. Tech Fellow Mentors must reach this goal in order to receive other incentives offered by the program.

Tech Fellows who earn this badge contribute their knowledge to the UAA learning community by facilitating a live learning event, workshop or presentation for their colleagues with a followup teaching tip in the EduTips site with the tags “tech fellow” and “evidence”.

A level-up from the Conspirator Badge,Tech Fellows who earn this badge meet with their mentee at least 3x per semester in year one, providing course planning and design guidance and feedback. They post a reflection or update on progress in the Tech Fellows blog in the category "Evidence" with the tag “coconspirator”.

A level-up from the Author Badge, Tech Fellows Mentors who earn this badge share openly on the Tech Fellows Blog and/or UAA Commons, focusing on feedback for others and commenting and relating to posts, and post at least 2x/month.
