Alternative Assessment Strategies for Online Courses

I will have to say that through the Online Learning Consortium (SLOAN-C) Advanced Online Teaching Certificate course I have gotten some great resources. I came across this one today, Alternative Assessment Strategies for Online Courses. There are so many tools out there right now it is a bit overwhelming. What to use, how to do it? Especially if you’re developing a course and trying to decide how to assess students, this can be a great primer. For me it is harder to take an established course and tweak it. I can add an element here or there, but it is already chock full of activities that are all focused on the learning objectives; how to decide to toss out something that works for a maybe something that could be better?

Anyways, here is the .pdf of that assessment strategies handout I wanted to share.
